What is a Forest walking session?
If you feel called to explore an alternative path for your healing journey, forest-walking sessions may be the nature based alternative that you’re seeking.
As we walk together, we invite the body to guide the process, using somatic awareness and, when needed, body-based EMDR techniques (Eye movement desensitization and reprogramming) to gently rewire and release old imprints, limiting beliefs, and patterned responses that no longer serve.
The rhythm of walking provides a natural bilateral stimulation—mirroring the principles of EMDR—which helps the nervous system gently process and integrate experiences and what has been held more fluidly. When paired with somatic attunement, this creates space and allows what feels heavy or stuck to move, shift, and gently resolve.
Being in the forest amplifies the healing process. Surrounded by the living intelligence of trees and the natural world, clients often feel held and grounded as nature itself becomes a co-facilitator of healing. The forest has a beautiful way of reflecting back our interconnectedness and belonging, offering a profound sense of safety and perspective that is difficult to find in clinical spaces.
At the heart of this work is compassionate witnessing. Having another present to walk beside you—not to fix or judge, but to hold and honor what arises—creates the safety needed for true transformation. Together, we create a sacred space where the heart can be heard, the body can release, pain can be acknowledged, stories can shift, and new pathways of resilience, clarity and freedom can emerge.
Amanda also extends an invitation to incorporate a plant medicine microdose when appropriate to aid as an ally for a deeper attunement to yourself, the natural world and the session being held.

FAQs

Wear comfortable weather appropriate clothing and trail appropriate footwear. Please consider wearing layers and waterproof options.

Session length varies on the individual. The session structure will consist of a grounding somatic exercise, the session lasts around 45 minutes to an hour. We close the session with a somatic integration exercise.
Please plan to be in the container for up to an hour and a half.

Each experience is unique and sensations vary.
Sensations may vary from but not limited to;
A desire to bring awareness to belief patterns, reactions and behaviours.
An openness to receive new, true corrective narratives and belief systems.
Some may experience an emotional release such as tears, sounds, sighs and / or deep breathing.
Impulses to move certain parts of the body may also arise.
Some may not encounter notable sensations.
This is a safe place and container and everything belongs and is welcome, whatever comes up needs to come up to be released with no judgement.
